Okay, as a first year student at UT I'm going to be completely honest here. I'm from Tampa and actually have the opportunity to live on campus, so that stated, I know this area. I say this because more than half of UT is out-of-state students, mainly from up north. UT is a small school, about 7000, maybe, and class sizes are small. My biggest class was probably 30 people, so if you like small class sizes and feel that would work best for you, then UT would work in that area. The faculty were great and are known for being competitive, which could be good or bad for what you're looking for. For residence life, the dorms are mainly good, as long as you get in the newer ones. The people here, well it really depends. This school is known for having very spoiled kids here and that's not necessarily true. For social life, eh, it can be challenging. The school is small and there's only so much in Tampa, like clubs (which gets boring), the beach (an hour away), and some bars around UT. There are house parties around here (in the worst neighborhoods) and you really have to know people to go to them; mainly greek life. So for Greek life, it's small. And no, not everyone at this school is in it. You don't really have to be in it but that's mainly where you'll get the connections for fun around here. The school insists you don't need a car here, but most here will say you do.

Look, the school is great if you're willing to work hard and go to class, like small class sizes and professor interaction and you're majoring in something worthy (Business, Pre-Law, Pre-Med, Nursing). I say worthy because those are the most challenging majors here. You'll meet a lot of Communications majors here, so heads up. BUT, if you're looking for the REAL college experience (football games, tailgating, big greek life, parties all the time) this is not the school to go to. You're better off going to a state school. And I really mean that. The transfer rate for this last semester was above 60% because of either people realizing how boring this school is or miss home.

responseIf you didn't like the school that's fine but the transfer rate is not 60% that is a complete lie
