As a transfer student from an equally good academic school, I do have my pros and cons toward Wake Forest.

Academically (B): You will get a great education here that is undoubted. The liberal arts aspect is taken seriously so be prepared for the well-rounded education. However the grade deflation is no rumor. It is extremely frustrating to work hard and not see the grades you believe you deserve. Also be prepared to take a class or two because it is ?easy? and you want your GPA boosted, not because you have any interest in the subject. Professors are willing to talk to you and help you out at much as possible. Note: They will know your name, they will know you, don?t skip and don?t plan on skating through a class. Most all classes are small enough that attendance and even participation play a role in grading.

Socially (C-): When you hear someone?s name and your first question is ?oh what frat/sorority is he/she in?? you know you are at Wake. This school is small enough that it feels like a high school, run by cliques that are labeled by greek letters. If you aren?t greek, you?re a geed (independent) and for the most part, looked down on. This doesn?t mean joining will make you happy however. Sure social life is run smoother because greek is inclusive, but the parties aren?t that great, and the bars are almost nonexistent. Once you are 21 you can span out more (fakes are hard to pass), but the city scene is not great. I would say it is as fun as you make it, however I know going to other schools, Wake is lacking socially. Outside of the party scene, there are clubs, groups and activities to get involved in (and highly recommended).

Campus (B+): The campus is gorgeous. It is small, so getting anywhere is a matter of minutes. The food is the worst part of campus life- the cafeteria is poor, and the options outside of that are fastfood (chick-fil-a, subway, freshens, zoca) or off campus. The dorms are not the best, but nowhere near terrible.

Other: Football games are fun to drink at, as long as you don?t get caught, and that is about it. Basketball is obviously legit even when it is a poor year because Wake is a part of one of the best conferences. Other sports are fair-weather fan associated, but can be fun. The surrounding city could be so much better. There are good restaurants and a weak shopping mall. There is a lack of bars as previously stated, and it is a pretty broke atmosphere.

Overall grade: B-

Wake is a great school, but if you?re not living ?the best 4 years of your life? than it?s not worth coming.
