Also, people in NC and all over the country HAVE heard of Elon and it has a great and growing reputation for excellence in liberal arts, business, communications, and engaged learning. |
Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time)
I'm an in-state student, part of the Honors Program at Elon, graduating this year and will be attending a top national Law School in the fall. I have loved my experience here, and wouldn't trade it for anything. Anyone who says this University is going downhill is obviously over-rating their own intelligence. Classes here are stimulating and challenging, though not hard enough to drive you to tears (thankfully). Professors are knowledgable, approachable, and generally very intelligent and friendly. With tons of majors in 4 schools and lots of opportunity to double-major or minor (I'm double majoring in Political Science and Economics) the school encourages diverse interests and pursuits, and gives you the resources to attain excellence.Social life is great, actually. While, yes, there is a lot of alcohol on campus (welcome to any college) there are lots of other ways to be socially active on campus besides Greek Life. We have concerts, film screenings, sponsored trips to shows and sporting events, dances, lectures, charity events, and many others. Within 30-45 minutes of Raleigh, Durham, Greensboro, Winston Salem, and Chapel Hill, there is no shortage of great things to do.Overall, I think this thread is seriously misrepresenting this school. There are 5,000 students at this school and most of them are incredibly happy with their lives on campus, their academics, and their future prospects. In my graduating class there are Fulbright Scholars and others receiving great scholarships to top graduate schools all over the country in Psychology, English, Music, Medical School, and Law School. We have students joining the foreign service corps, teach for america, the peace corps, and getting jobs with top companies nationwide. Don't let a few upset "students" who are displaying the closed-mindedness and arrogance which they claim to be unhappy with at Elon feed you ideas that are simply not true.
