And if you make your decision to go to ANY school based on another's personal experience you are foolish. You could probably talk to anoter who had the same reaction about UT, because they could not get into SMU, or somewhere else. Look at the big picture and decide what is best for you…and do calculate the cost. Spending $100K will not always ensure a great job out of school. |
UT Austin is a vile and putrid university, too. At one time these top Texas universities were responsive to students and hired the best professors. At one time the courses they offered were practical. It is not the case now. It's a different story now that corporations, churches, and professional sports rule our society instead of reason, intellect, ethics, and community. |
Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time)
If you are a prospective student who has been denied at UT (or got accepted into the CAP program) and want to come here. Do yourself a big favor. Do Not. Stick around and attend a community college for a year and transfer into UT. I am speaking as a student who decided to pass the CAP program up and go elsewhere (later transferring into Tech). While Tech really isn't that bad of a school, its hard for me to stop thinking about all that I have given up. I gave up a great city, solid academics, a diverse and generally intelligent student body. Its not worth it to go here just b/c its a big state school with good sports. I really hate saying I regret my decision but I do. UT is a very good school that really has everything..don't pass that up to come to Lubbock. Whatever you do..never just "settle" like I did. It will be a decision you will regret for the rest of your life.
