Major: Psychology (This Major's Salary over time)
I have just finished the Fall 08' semester at the University of Tampa as a Psychology major, and my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. I am from Boston, Massachusetts, and chose to come to this university because I was seeking an academically rigorous institution, that had both an enjoyable social scene, as well as interesting and intellectual individuals from differing cultural backgrounds. I have found this at UT. During the first few days, I knew my experience here would enrich my life and provide me with a solid Baccalaureate education for my occupational future and life after college in general. My professors all have PHds, and are extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic in their field. They are devoted to their students, and are readily available during their Office Hours during the week, as well as at almost any time for scheduled appointments. The professors challenge students to think individually, and to question and analyze information thoroughly. The classes are all under 25 students, except for my General Psychology class which has roughly 50. Even in this class, the professor knows all the students names and has made an effort to know each one individually. I am achieving well, and spend about 2 hours a night studying. I rate the difficulty as medium, as I do have to put in considerable effort to achieve, but do not have to lock myself in the room to study for countless hours. Despite what other negative reviewers have stated, this school is not rich, superficial kids from up north and is not full of stupid, careless, fake people. These judgments are based upon stereotypes and prejudices, and I think the ones stating these remarks are showing the type of people that they themselves are. The social life is great, and I have made friends that I can relate to can see as life-long friends. Sure, we go out an party and have an amazing time, but when it comes to schoolwork, it is always completed, and takes first priority. Tuition is reasonable compared to other private universities such as George Washington, who charge upwards of 50,000 a year. Finally, the weather and campus are absolutely beautiful, with the grounds constantly being manicured, and the weather being a wonderful escape from frigid Massachusetts!!
