I'm from a small, Northern town and had no intentions of even applying to UVA. After my first visit I fell in love with the aesthetics of the University. After applying I visited again and fell even more in love. Today I could not be happier with my choice of schools. I am especially happy with the nursing school. After my first year of college I had a summer internship at a very prominent hospital paying $13 dollars and hour and enjoying every minute of it. As for the social life there is always something to do whether you participate in drinking or not. I was particularly nervous because I had heard a lot about the importance of Greek life. I rushed and did not end up joining a sorority. I have friends that did and friends that did not. Overall it really isn't a big deal either way. When it comes to work, it is difficult but you learn so much. I have never had an issue getting help or advice from faculty. I believe that the motto here really is work hard play hard. The only negative thing I have to say about UVA is the fact that competition is everywhere. Due to the nature of a majority of the students everyone is always trying to outdo the other but in a way that is why the University is as well known as it is. I think that this is one of the best universities and I would not be near as happy anywhere else!
