Major: Education (This Major's Salary over time)
2003 grad of ole UT here. seconday education and history major. great campus and small area wise compared to other MAC schools. when i was there as a freshman something like 10 percent of us lived on campus. definitely is still a commuter school after all these years but the administration and vendors have been trying to change that. like others have said UT is what you make it. if you want to succeed you will. if you want to make friends you will. the campus was kind of in a transition phase during my 4 years there. my first 2 years basically you ate at local fast food places as the dining on campus was terrible. now they to an extent require you to eat on campus if you live on campus. lived in parks tower for 2 years. great building that was always trashed by the end of the school year, what do you expect from 700 first year students. if you like football you'll be set but the school has basically chosen to ignore other sports, especially on the men's side. mens basketball was good when i first arrived but has gone way down hill. football is the only sport the university cares for and would gladly do away with every other sport if it could. they have a cross country and track team where you need to simply show up for practices or say you are on the team to get a varsity letter.

the education department was good, not great. the courses were redudant and in some cases not even relevant. the field placement office for student teaching basically has contacts with a few schools and districts and dumps 3 or 4 kids into one school. i student taught at bowsher high in tps and there was one other girl there doing her student teaching as well along with 2 other males doing their secondary field experiences. history department and poly sci departments are fantastic. some of the most beloved profs on campus come from those 2 departments. i find i ironic that UT would have a business school when the local economy is so bad. i took a couple businesses classes and found myself staring at the drywall more than the notes shown via lcd projector.

the career services office basically fed us job leads via monster.com. rarely did they ever have their own research leads on jobs. in fact they use to have a job search agent that they told us was just for UT kids but in reality it was a site that connected you to a nationwide job site that thousands of other colleges were accessing. i would go to UT again for the friends that i acquired. toledo is a good city in my opinion. the local social life is fun if you decide to make it fun.
