Major: Education (This Major's Salary over time)
Vanderbilt has some really nice students and some great professors but it is not an easy place to be female. I have never felt like such a piece of meat any where else in my life! Some of the guys here are disgusting and the whole sexist ethic is just totally accepted! I am by no means a radical feminist, and no, I am not gay, though believe me, after being here, both of those things are looking better and better! Don't let the myth of the southern gentleman fool you, they are some of the worst ones!I really don't like to badmouth my own school, but I do feel like people should be warned. The school does a very good job of marketing itself as diverse and egalitarian, but it can be quite a culture shock once you are here. Everyone told me to visit and make up my own mind, but you know what? I didn't see it on my visit. I don't know if it just wasn't enough time, or if the visits are kind of controlled or what, but I had a blast and was really excited to come here. I am a sophomore and am still here, and I will probably stay. I am just really hoping that people mature as upperclassmen, greek life stops being so important, and that the quality of the education makes it all worthwhile!
