Vanderbilt is an excellent university in which one may obtain a well-rounded education and breadth of experiences which, together, catalyze tremendous maturation and personal growth. The courses are demanding yet leave students able achieve a preferred combination of grade point average and social activity. Many students party, including those who are extremely intelligent, while many students can be safely considered bookworms. Perhaps most students enjoy the best of both worlds. Each field of study demands serious commitment while the supporting faculty and student body tend to embrace cooperatively mutual intellectual and personal enrichment. Overall, Vanderbilt is an excellent school and one can use the education it offers to do anything from attend the most competitive graduate schools in the world to mold an exciting alternative career path. The school is insulated from the Nashville country scene to the extent that the individual student prefers such distance. However, most would avoid this scene at their peril as, as told by a Northerner who never thought he would be in the South, the music is alluring and the city uniquely charming. Attending what many consider an Ivy-caliber school with superior than Ivy-caliber athletics in an awesome city was an enjoyable and tremendously growth-oriented experience.
