Ah, the Forest. If I could take it all back I would, and here's the kicker…I'm not saying this out of bitterness. Wake Forest is the perfect place for some people. Usually these people are wealthy white guys with an affinity for pastel colored Duck Head shorts and BMW Z series vehicles. Racial jokes aside, in all seriousness, Wake is where positive race interaction comes to die. The divide between whites and minorities is so thick it's almost palpable. Don't bother trying to make any changes either, Administration is seriously afraid of the word "racist." Ironically enough, Wake becomes like an ambulance chasing lawyer when it comes to minority recruitment. Those poor suckers never know what they're getting into. The students that have a positive experience at Wake are those who 'fit in.' If you're a troublemaker or even the slightest bit of a free spirit, than you may want to consider another institution.

But I'm not unreasonable. Wake Forest, educationally, is unparalleled (unless of course we're discussing Harvard, Yale, Amherst, or our favorite depressant down the road…Duke). Despite desperately competing with said schools (usually through GPA deflation), Wake's rigorous cirriculum and very, very brilliant professors are almost worth the $36,000 grand. Do yourself a favor though, and skip the meal plan.

Finally we get to the social lives of students, meaning of course that the aforementioned white boys who are member of PiKA will undoubtedly have a social life. Many other students are not so fortunate. However, Winston-Salem is a diamond in the rough. There is a jazz bar, an independent project space, and the ever-popular Avenue of the Arts. Most of this cultural entertainment is downtown, so a car is necessary for those who prefer more intellectual pursuits to the infamous Wednesday night frat paries.

My advice to anyone considering the Forest is simple; It's a good place to go if you've been rejected from Duke.
