Date: Jul 14 2004 Major: Linguistics (This Major's Salary over time) I applied early to UVA without thinking and was crushed when I got in - I wanted nothing to do with what I perceived to be an overblown exacerbation of the worst of my yuppie high school. I fully intended to spend my 1st year figuring out how to transfer elsewhere. UVA and Charlottesville, however, changed all of that. I fell in love with the aesthetic of the grounds, and despite many reports to the contrary, the variety of different people here. While the Greek community may be a little (or a lot) homogeneous, the "city" of Charlottesville and many of UVA's own students have a lot to offer. I was fortunate enough to be in two majors - linguistics and communication disorders - that offered very individualized attention and a spectacular academic experience that have prepared me well for grad school. I can't imagine having gone anywhere else.
