A Wake Forest degree is a real albatross. For starters, you will probably graduate owing money, and how do you plan to pay it back? Teaching school? In that case, everyone who attended a state school already has an advantage on you, socially & financially. Then, to the extent you took up the university challenge to be a renaissance man or woman , spending all your freshest hours cuddled up with the books, to that extent you’d better learn to rap well. You’ll be forever the straight man, always hat in hand to fad and fashion. Have dignity amidst the rabble? You arrogant bitch. Your resume not always on the make? What happened to him…? (But in your case say that with a very knitted brow.) Oh, and what do you call a Wake graduate who becomes a beach bum? A Republican beach bum, always. God, we just can’t help ourselves.
