Bottom line, Vanderbilt is perfect—BUT, its a true test of survival. The essence of Vandy is realizing that everyone is intimidated by everyone else, and once you realize that its an amazing experience. It is the only school in the country where there is both intense social and academic pressure, but that comes when students are pretty, smart and rich—a combination only really found at Vanderbilt. The culture is addictive and is like living in a country club. No other school can match the general coolness of Vanderbilt. Students carry themselves with a well deserved aire of confidence. After all, there is an old saying that students at Harvard will be the CEO's of large companies, that Vanderbilt grads own. The only bad thing about the campus culture are those that ended up at Vandy and really shouldn't have come—they spend most of their time trashing the school and trying to change everything that makes it what it is. Vanderbilt is the last of a dying breed of institutions where being privileged and confident is respected and where the study body isn't looking to celebrate diversity or misfortune. If that typical collegiate mind-opening liberal experience is what you are looking for in a school, stay the hell away from Vanderbilt because we don't want you here.
