The majority of faculty that are men are gay. The majority of students that are men are gay. The professors act, (guy or girl), incredibly snooty. The teachers are lazy and give the same test year after year. Counselors are over emotional and hang up on you on the phone at times.

Large classes can be impersonal. It is difficult to develop relationships with Professors, however, TAs are approachable and knowledgeable.

UCSB actually has a great academic reputation, even though it's always ignored due to its excellent social scene.

I'm a sociology and film & media studies double major and I can say that UCSB is one of a kind. Everyone here is very friendly and there is always something going on on campus. The professors are for the most part very approachable and always willing to help. They are also brilliant and internationally-known. Other employees in the department front desks, and administrative offices are also very nice, professional, and helpful. The campus is awesome - the school owns beaches beaches and there is always something to do. There are many places to study, lots of computers, resources to help students, and many extracurricular activities. The students are very friendly and come from very diverse backgrounds.

There is a lot of research to be done, however. You will probably have to write at least one research paper every quarter for most majors.

Overall, this is an awesome school and I couldn't have chosen a better school. I have been accepted at other schools for my graduate work and it's going to be tough to find another university as great as UCSB.
Education Quality: A+, Useful Schoolwork: A
