Happy that is over. I transferred in from a state college and wish I would have stayed where I was. Met many great people but the institution itself is overrated - more like a huge junior college than my image of a top level university, The community calls itself a "University Town", but it is really an anti-student town. I will never return to this place.

Quite Bright
To be fair, I got into both Berkeley and UCLA. I wanted to go to UCLA, but I was terrifically irresponsible and my parents forced me to go to Davis (if you don't go to Davis, we won't pay.) Fine. I got over it (eventually.) Plus, I didn't want to pay, so screw it.

Having grown up in the Sacramento area, I wasn't happy about having to stay put. Freshman year sucked, I didn't like the dorms, and everybody studied too much. I thought college was a big party scene---not here. I adjusted my expectations and got to work. Study Study Study. Science Science Science.

It's been about 15 years since I left Davis, and I'm actually relieved how it worked out. I didn't have a particularly fun experience, but I really did develop some skills that put me above and ahead of others in my field. Of course, I wanted to party and have sex with a lot of strange women, instead I honed my skills.
Perceived Campus Safety: A+, Social Life: D

Not so bright
If you're coming to Davis to get a good education you come to the right place. If you're here to have fun, this is not the right place.
All the professors i have encounter are friendly and helpful. They're not here for money, they teach because they like teaching. So you'll get people who care. Be prepared to read alot. The community college system did not prepare me for the amount of reading that is required at UC system. YOu will definatly learn to write, even if you suck at it. They will force you to write and read and write and read even if it's a non-writing or reading related class. The school wants students to be well rounded so they have you take courses outside your major, so don't expect to steam line through your major. Also be prepared to wait a few quarters to get the class you want. Too many students not enough spaces. Once you're in the classes and if you're a design major, you'll get alot more attention. The design major has small classes so you'll get one-one time. The design teachers stress design proccess and continually stress feedback. Whether you want it or not they'll give it. They want to you be better so they always have you refine. They are also knowledgable. Most are experts in there field so they share with you all their experiences to help you understand how you can apply theory to real life.
