Bright
small town atmosphere extends onto campus. friendly and casual air except when the wind blows up from the hog barn.

can easily escape on a bike into the local fields and hills.
close to Bay Area and Tahoe for culture/skiing/hiking/etc. I enjoyed Davis and if anything was lacking I could jump to UC Berkeley to get a book/a seminar/ or what ever was not at UCD or could not be delivered by intercampus services.

hot weather only for a week or two in Oct and May/June. cheaper living than in a city - local produce at farmers markets and even living in a nearby town can save money too.UCD's crew and fencing clubs are not always mentioned on the college comparison sites. There is too much emphasis placed here on grades and not learning. i find this to be a characteristic of most state schools.
