 | Not so bright | | First I'd like to say that this school has one of the highest transfer rates. Yes this school looks nice and the dorms are amazing, but really that's the only thing this university has to offer. They prep the campus up real nice during 2nd semester to make a good impression on potential students taking tours but put very little money into better faculty and improving the departments. Chemistry and physics are a joke. Physics is so easy that you can get an A in the class and not have a clue what chapter 1 was about. The kinesiology department is so impacted that it takes most students six years to graduate, not to mention the recent 16 unit cap they created, people will be here for even longer. Student services is filled with the most unhelpful people I've ever talked to. I've repeatedly gone in with questions and barely got a one word answer before I was shuffled out. Most of the undergraduate students are nice. However I haven't met one student that has said they loved this school and would never want to transfer. All my friends and students I've had classes with, both Greek and unaffiliated students, have considered going to a different school. Rohnert park has nothing to offer. It is the most boring suburban neighborhood. I'm a very outdoor person and there are NO hikes to go on, no nice walks to take, no nice bike rides. Anything exciting is a good 30-40min drive away so if you don't have a car expect to spend your weekend on campus in the dorms or at bad parties that get broken up at 10:30pm. That being said. . . Go Seawolves!! Oh yeah, forgot we don't even have a football team. | Campus Aesthetics: A, Individual Value: F | | | |

| | Bright | | SSU back in the late 1970's to early 80's was very different. As SSU was surrounded by alfalfa fields, and not much else. The nice olympic pool that is there on campus was nothing but dirt, no football team, a good volleyball, basketball and tennis team. The library was always loud and students were not well-mannered in the library. I remember having to do homework on the top floor that at that time only two tables and four chairs. The dorms had a little pool, but I never used it due to the practice of the guys "jjjelelel". It was disgusting. The dorms were nice, but many of the students who lived in them were into growing and smoking weed. Talk about toxic smells. The school was very small and had little to offer. One of the largest drug busts happened just down the road, No apartments were on the road that leads to the campus. One the plus side, SSU had some great instructors, especially in the PE department. One who started the Redwood Marathon. So stop your whining about no campus life, you think it is bad now, when I was there , nothing much was there except one lousy apartment down the road, alfalfa fields, dust from the new neighborhood down the bike trail from school. If you wanted anything it was a car or bike ride to Santa Rosa, as the bus system was not very large and ran about once every three hours. You have a new student union, a large beautiful pool, probably better transit into the city unless you have wheels of your own. But do yourself a favor, if you know kids who are thinking of SSU, tell them and their parents to scope out the school in person, so they can see what they are in for. I went sight unseen. Had I known of the alfalfa, I would have never gone, my allergies were the worst. | Collaboration/Competitive: A, Surrounding City: D | | | |

| | Average | Definitely think about what kind of city you are going to be live in because the education could be amazing but if there is nothing to do besides schoolwork then it is boring as hell. | Campus Aesthetics: A+, Collaboration/Competitive: F | | | |
