Before choosing to attend Santa Rosa Junior College, especially if you are in need of financial aid, or relocating beware. The college itself is beautiful, and some professors are quite engaging. Although the financial aid department and admissions and records departments are an absolute nightmare. Be prepared for disputes, holds and loss of paper work without any notify to you. After attending this school for four semesters before transfering to a university and every semester came with tremendous issues in the departments. BEWARE.

If you are attending this college with the idea of transferring within the UC or CSU system in California, be prepared that in many so called "transferable" equivalent courses, this is not the case. Example: French 1 at this college does not do past tense nor cultural/geographical and historical components. This means that you are already behind the curve when transferring. French 2 gets you even further behind in such comparisons. When I transferred to a CSU campus I took safety measures to begin in Fr. 103 even though I had completed 4 full semesters and independent study. I actually needed to take Fr. 102 and even then missed much on the history/cultural and geographic levels other students had who began studying at this CSU campus.

SRJC is an incredible junior college. The classes are extraordinary, and the professors are at par with UC professors. Over my 2 full time years at the JC, and 2 part-time years while still in high-school, I never had a BAD teacher. The dance program is amazing, and I formed most of my friendships from there. After being at SRJC, UC Santa Cruz seemed a joke- availability of classes and teachers was terrible in comparison to my junior college experience. If SRJC would turn into a CSU or UC I would surely get my degree there, but alas it isn't so...
