i love going to this school; my professors in the electronics department are all professionals, approachable, and very helpful. we call each other on a first name basis, however we keep the fine line between professors and students. however, the enrolment system of this school is way out of the norm. instead of a first come, first serve, they give you an appointment date. i was already on my second year at the school, so iwas thinking that i would have a priority in enrolling, but i was given an appointment date which was three weeks after the start of the enrolment date. guess what?? all subjects that i need to take were already taken and closed. it is very discouraging to attend a school like this, which does not give priority to former/continuing students. fuck the admin department!!

I found the school to be somewhat depressing. many of the students in my class seemed young and very immature. The Professors, I must say, were very helpful and kind and quite flexible. However, I had so much problems with administration. I had to place a complaint because my paperwork was missing in their office and I was not properly registered. Also, when I went to find out why paperwork had not gone through although I applied early, I was made to wait in a line for 1.5 hours. After getting to the front of the line, I was told that there was no one to assist me and that the held of admin was off until the first week of school. Eventually, I had to meet with the Dean and she got me enrolled by the first day of school. if you call up to the school 9 times out of 10 you will be hung up on because there are 3 people working the lines of complaints and questions and the telephones. THe year I went there, the classes were cut and therefore, after 3 weeks of classes I changed schools... it defeated the purpose if only one of my classes were going to be held in the year. BE CAREFUL... IF THERE IS NO CUSTOMER/CLIENT SERVICE, GO ELSEWHERE... I DID!

Overall SDCC has been a pretty good community college experience. Sure there's not much going on around campus and at times seems like a ghost town, but that's not what going to community college is all about--at least for me. It's about getting in and getting out, and that's where city shines. There is no shortage of classes, on campus or online. Plus, there are three other campuses to choose from. In fact, the classes are so open that I was forced to drop because not enough people enrolled! That kind of sucked actually. The point is, getting classes knocked out here is not a problem. As far as professors go there are a few landmines. Just ask around or use ratemyprofessors.com to see what you're getting yourself into.
