 | Quite Bright | | All of the LA City Colleges are pretty much the same, except for the student makeup. This one was like the rest: The website is out of date and gives incorrect information. The administrators are uninformed (ask 3 admissions people the same question get 3 different answers). The websites list phone numbers that are disconnected, and signing up for a class, something that should take 20 minutes online can become a 3 day process because of this. The administrators are HORRIBLE at their jobs. Basically useless. And try calling them - good luck.
The teachers are ok to decent once you run the gauntlet of trying to get into the class or get admitted to this second rate "educational" institution.Many of the students are complete thugs or wanna be thugs, yelling, cursing, calling women "bitches" and generally acting without class. | Useful Schoolwork: B-, Individual Value: F | | | |

| Quite Bright | Ahhh, Trade-Tech, my alma mater.... started in January 1994, graduated in June 1996, with an A.A. in Liberal Arts, I was part of the PACE program, which was an accelerated program in which one could get all of the general ed. courses completed. I also took additional evening courses as well. I believe that the PACE program no longer exists. Located on the southern edge of downtown Los Angeles, it is a community college that also offers unique vocational programs as well. Great teachers. However, at the time when I was there, 1994-96, it was a pretty dangerous vibe at night. Lots of things went down when I was a student there: on Halloween 1994, two masked guys walked into a classroom and robbed the students and teacher. Various bums and street people would wander off the street and onto the campus. My first day of class there in Spring 1994, some guy was standing in front of the campus entrance yelling obscenities at nobody in particular. The next evening, another guy was doing the same thing, except he was yelling in Spanish. Personally, my car was broken into twice, parked on campus. I was followed one night by someone after class, but luckily walked into a group of people, and the attacker backed off. I caught two guys "doing it" in the bathroom one evening. Now, having said all that, the school itself is a great place to learn a trade, and its Fashion Design, Auto Body Repair, and Culinary Arts program are very well regarded. Funny that I went there to get a Liberal Arts degree, but it is a community college too, offering a full academic curriculum. I would recommend this school to someone who, for example, has a job in downtown, and wants a convenient place to take classes after work. The college vibe is kind of lacking here; you may want to go elsewhere if you want to feel like you're "in college"...LACC, WLAC, or ELAC may be better choices in that regard. | Surrounding City: A+, Social Life: F | | | |

| Bright | The Fashion department is well known in the industry. However I am going to refer merely to the technical program and the fashion merchandising classes. The technical program in which I am enrolled is really good, and it offers variety of programs that the industry is using right now;(not all the universities have the advantege in offer such variety) sadly, you are not going to be able to become skillful enough for the demanding industry because during the time of the classes you can only take the acknowledge but not experience, and the classes can not be repeated. Talking about Fashion-merchandise classes think carefully in this college. I tried once and my try was unsuccessful. They have just one teacher for the entire merchandising classes, and although this teacher has been teaching for 20 years, she is in the industry, and she has good enough acknowledge, her classes are very unorganized, she confuses one class with another one; and, you need to figure out very hard how to study because: you can not fallow a book, your resources are going to be just photocopied pieces of research she has done here and there, and the notes you have to take during the entire class while she is talking, you can not use a recorder and she emphasizes in this point, and she does not write on the board. Her math acknowledges are very poor but she demands the best from you. Besides all of these points, this teacher discriminates and uses strong words in her class time. Further, the students with certain weaknesses are going to become in the scapegoats, and she enjoys giving them a hard time in front of the class. The reason why she is still there, apparently with this recently government measures the colleges has no money and this “retired” teacher has a particular agreement, so the college can continue with the program with reasonable cost. ( I have not fundaments in this last matter, but I am writing what is known in the campus) | Preparedness: -, Reputation: - | | |
